Preserving Colorado Springs History

How Roofing Can Help Preserve Colorado Springs History

Providing roofing service in Colorado Springs isn’t just about roofing. It’s about preserving what’s already here and taking pride in the community built before us. That’s why this roofing project is so unique. It’s more than just the building—it’s about the Colorado Springs history behind it and what it now holds.

Built during WWII, the Old United Brethren Church has roots in the community that began with its design.

A classically trained architect and master of traditional European forms, Thomas MacLaren displayed his artistry in over thirty historical buildings in the Colorado and Manitou Springs area. These buildings include the Colorado Springs City Auditorium, and the town’s City Hall.

Historic Design & Edgy Culture — Indy Harmony

The Independent, or “the Indy” to locals, is an edgy source of original, local news and culture that was founded in the early ‘90s by John Weiss and Kathryn Carpenter Eastburn. The Indy is currently located in the beautiful simplicity of the Old United Brethren Church.

The paper’s focus built a readership of 125,000+ over the last twenty-two years and is the largest, locally owned media company in Colorado Springs. Just like the building’s inhabitants, the building itself is edgy and current, sourcing a portion of its energy from roof-based solar panels.

But the Indy’s strongest community contribution stands on its own. Along with other area leaders, Mr. Weiss also founded The Indy Give! Campaign, a unique approach to supporting local nonprofits.

In 2017, the campaign raised $1.4 million for local charities!

History, Culture & Community

So, what does this Colorado Springs history lesson have to do with Rampart Roofing? Due to the normal erratic Colorado Springs weather,  we installed a new roof on this historic building to keep it sealed against any further damage.

We are honored to be the company chosen for the job and to protect a piece of history that’s important to our community.
